H.E.L.P. Meeting Minutes

I. Lessons learned from earthquake.

A round-table discussion of the earthquake allowed attendees an opportunity to share their experiences from the earthquake and share the lessons they learned. Issues identified include:

II. Laboratory Safety & Health Seminar sponsored by the University of Washington.

Bradley Gong, ICOS Corp., briefed the group on the contents of the Seminar held on March 15th and 16th. The Seminar offered a mixed bag of topics including root cause analysis, violence in the workplace, Herpes B virus, pregnancy in the workplace, and spill preparedness.

III. L&I ergonomics standard update.

Jeff Lyons, Labor & Industries, discussed the new ergonomics standard and the progress in implementation.

IV. Steering Committee meeting.

Jim Denovan, EIC, summarized the results of the H.E.L.P. Steering Committee meeting from March 12th. A schedule with dates and locations is set for the coming year. Biohazardous waste, Pollution Prevention Plans, organic waste treatment, and ergonomics are a few of the agenda topics being organized.

V. Next Meeting

The May 16th H.E.L.P. meeting will be hosted by ICOS Corp. in Canyon Park at 9:00am.
